What is UNIVAC?

UNIVAC stands for Universal Automatic Computer. It was the first commercial electronic computer designed for business and commercial use.

UNIVAC का फुल फॉर्म Universal Automatic Computer है।
यह पहला commercial एल्क्ट्रोनिक कंप्यूटर है जिसका उपयोग commercial (व्यावसायिक) उद्देश्यों को पूरा करने के लिए किया गया था।
यह पहला ऐसा computer था जो numerical information के साथ साथ textual information भी देता था | numerical जैसे 57, 3889 और textual जैसे thank you, how are you.
ENVAC को John Presper Eckert और Jr John Mauchly द्वारा World War II के समय अमेरिका (USA) के लिए बनाया गया था।
UNIVAC पहला अमेरिकन computer था. जिसे business के काम काज और हिसाब किताब के लिए बनाया गया था।
इस कंप्यूटर के द्वारा हम गणित (math) के कार्यों जैसे कि जोड़ना, घटाना,गुणा, भाग करना आदि को आसानी से solve कर सकते थे।
उस समय UNIVAC का मूल्य बहुत ही अधिक था इसे केवल बड़ी कंपनी ही खरीदती थी। इसकी cost उस समय 1.1 करोड़ रुपये के आसपास थी।
UNIVAC कंप्यूटर की लंबाई 25 फीट x 50 फीट थी, जिसमें 5,000 वैक्यूम ट्यूब, 18,000 क्रिस्टल डायोड और 300 रिले थे।

UNIVAC की विशेषताएं

इसकी विशेषताएं निम्नलिखित हैं-

UNIVAC में 5000 vacuum tubes का इस्तेमाल किया जाता था।
इसका weight (वजन) 9 टन का था।
इसमें बहुत ज्यादा बिजली खर्च होती थी लगभग 125KW.
इसका साइज बहुत बड़ा था और यह 35 square meter की जगह लेता था।
इसमें input के लिए टेप ड्राइवर का इस्तेमाल किया जाता था।
यह उस समय 2.25 megahertz क्लॉक स्पीड पर काम करता था।
इसकी Main Memory में 1000 वर्ड्स तक स्टोर हो सकते थे।

Disadvantage Of UNIVAC in Hindi ( UNIVAC के नुकसान )

इसकी हानियाँ निम्नलिखित हैं:-

1:- इन computer मे vacuum tube का use होता था जो बहुत अधिक गर्मी छोड़ते थे जिससे computer गरम हो जाता था जिसको ठंडा करने के लिए एयर कंडीशनिंग की आवशयकता होती थी।

2:- इन computer मे बहुत ही ज्यादा electricity खर्च होती थी।

3:- इनका processer बहुत ही धीमे काम करता था।

4:- इन कंप्यूटर को चलाने मे बहुत अधिक खर्चा आता था।
