Computers have many powerful features that make them a vital part of our lives today. Below are some of the key characteristics of a computer:

1. Speed

Speed is one of the most important features of a computer. It can perform tasks much faster than a human. While a person might take minutes to do a calculation, a computer can do it in a fraction of a second. It can complete millions of operations in just one second. This high-speed performance helps save a lot of time.

2. Accuracy

A computer always gives accurate results. Unlike humans, it doesn’t make mistakes when performing calculations or tasks, as long as the instructions are correct. This accuracy makes computers highly dependable in fields like banking, engineering, and data analysis.

3. Reliability

Computers are extremely reliable. If you give the same input multiple times, it will always give the same output—unless you change the input. They don’t get tired or distracted like humans do, and they can work for years without losing performance or making errors.

4. Memory

Computers have two main types of memory: Primary memory (used for immediate tasks) and Secondary memory (used to store data permanently). Unlike humans, computers don’t forget anything. They can store a large amount of data for a long time, and that data remains safe until the user chooses to delete it.

5. Diligence

Computers can work continuously without taking breaks. Humans need rest after working for a few hours, but a computer can perform tasks non-stop without losing efficiency or getting tired. This makes them ideal for long-term operations.

6. Easy to Use

Modern computers are user-friendly. You don’t need deep technical knowledge to use them. Anyone can learn to operate a computer with just a little practice, which is why they are used in schools, offices, homes, and businesses everywhere.

7. Automation

Computers are automatic machines. Once a task is started, the computer can complete it on its own without needing further help. This makes work easier and faster, especially for repetitive or complex jobs.

8. Storage

Storage is another major feature of computers. You can store a huge amount of data such as documents, songs, videos, and software. The stored data stays in the system until you choose to delete it. The computer itself won’t erase anything on its own.

9. Privacy

Computers help you keep your personal data safe. You can set passwords and security systems to protect your files. Without the correct password, no one can access your private information, which keeps your data secure.

10. No Thinking Ability

Unlike humans, computers cannot think on their own. They follow the instructions given to them but do not have intelligence or emotions. They cannot make decisions by themselves unless they are programmed to do so.

Characteristics of Computer in Hindi – कंप्यूटर की विशेषताएं

कंप्यूटर की बहुत सारीं विशेषताएं होती है जो कि निम्नलिखित हैं:-

1- Speed (गति)

कंप्यूटर की गति(स्पीड)इसकी मुख्य विशेषताओं में से एक है। कंप्यूटर के काम करने की स्पीड काफी तेज होती है। कंप्यूटर इंसानो की तुलना में बहुत तेजी से कार्यो को करते है। कंप्यूटर की गणना करने की गति काफी तेज होती है। यह एक सेकंड में एक लाख से भी ज्यादा कार्यों को पूरा कर सकते है।

कंप्यूटर अपने कार्यो को माइक्रोसेकंड और नैनोसेकंड के अंतराल में पूरा कर देता है। किसी इंसान को गुणा, भाग करने में 1 से 2 मिनट का समय लगता है जबकि कंप्यूटर गुणा, भाग को 1 सेकंड से भी कम समय में पूरा कर सकता है.

2- Accuracy (सटीकता)

कंप्यूटर अपने कार्यो को सटीकता (accuracy) के साथ करता है। कंप्यूटर बिना किसी गलती के अपने कार्यों को पूरा करता है। इंसानो की तुलना में कंप्यूटर अधिक सटीकता के साथ अपने काम को पूरा करता है। अगर कोई इन्सान गुणा या भाग करता है तो उसमें वह गलतियाँ करता है जबकि कंप्यूटर बिना किसी गलती के गुणा और भाग आसानी से कर सकता है.

3- Reliability (विश्वसनीयता)

कंप्यूटर पूरी तरह से विश्वसनीय (reliable) होते है। हम इंसानो की तुलना में कंप्यूटर अधिक विश्वसनीय होते है, यदि हम कंप्यूटर को एक ही इनपुट कई बार देते है तो कंप्यूटर हमे एक ही जैसे परिणाम दिखायेगा। जब तक यूजर इनपुट को नहीं बदलेगा तब तक कंप्यूटर परिणाम को नहीं बदलेगा।

कंप्यूटर कभी भी थकता नहीं है आप कंप्यूटर को लगातार सालों तक इस्तेमाल करें वह हमें सही परिणाम ही देता है इसलिए कंप्यूटर बहुत ही विश्वसनीय होता है.

4- Memory (मेमोरी)

कंप्यूटर में दो प्रकार की मेमोरी होती है जिसे हम प्राइमरी (primary) और सेकेंडरी (secondary) मेमोरी कहते है। प्राइमरी मेमोरी कंप्यूटर के अंदर होती है जहां कंप्यूटर सिस्टम का डेटा स्टोर होता है। इस मेमोरी को इंटरनल मेमोरी के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। सेकेंडरी मेमोरी एक प्रकार के रिमूवल डिवाइस होते है जिन्हे हम बाहर से लगा और निकाल सकते है। सेकेंडरी मेमोरी को एक्सटर्नल मेमोरी के नाम से भी जाना जाता है।

कंप्यूटर की मेमोरी इंसानों की तुलना में बहुत ही शक्तिशाली होती है इन्सान हर चीज को याद नहीं रख सकता जबकि कंप्यूटर की मेमोरी किसी चीज को भूलती नहीं है.

5- Diligence (परिश्रम)

एक कंप्यूटर निरंतरता (consistency) के साथ एक समय में कई कार्यो को कर सकता है। कंप्यूटर बिना थके लगातार अपने कार्यो को पूरा करने में सक्षम होते है। यदि हम इंसानो की बात करे तो इंसान 24 घंटे किसी कार्य को नहीं कर सकता उसे 24 घंटो में कुछ समय का आराम चाहिए होता है लेकिन कंप्यूटर बिना थके बिना रुके कार्य को कर सकता है।

6- Easy to use (इस्तेमाल करने में आसान)

कंप्यूटर को इस्तेमाल करना काफी आसान होता है। कंप्यूटर को सीखने के लिए तकनीकी ज्ञान (Technical knowledge) की आवश्यकता नहीं होती इसे कोई भी व्यक्ति आसानी से सीख सकता है। 

7- Automation (स्वचालित)

कंप्यूटर एक स्वचालित मशीन (automatic machine) है। यह अपने कार्यो को खुद से करता है। जब कंप्यूटर किसी काम को शुरू करता है तो वह उस काम को खुद से ही पूरा कर लेता है। कंप्यूटर सिस्टम को अपने कार्यो को पूरा करने के लिए किसी इंसान की आवश्यकता नहीं पड़ती। 

8– Storage (स्टोरेज)

स्टोरेज भी कंप्यूटर की मुख्य विशेषताओं में से एक है। इसका उपयोग जरुरी डेटा और जानकारी को स्टोर करने के लिए भी किया जाता है। कंप्यूटर में स्टोर की गई जानकारी हमेशा के लिए स्टोर रहती है। डेटा और जानकारी तब तक कंप्यूटर में स्टोर रहती है जब तक कोई यूजर उस जानकारी को डिलीट ना कर दे। कंप्यूटर खुद से डेटा को डिलीट नहीं कर सकता। कंप्यूटर में हम बहुत ज्यादा मात्रा में डेटा को स्टोर कर सकते हैं जैसे –songs, videos, और games आदि.

9- Privacy (गोपनीयता)

कंप्यूटर में हम अपनी private जानकारी को स्टोर कर सकते हैं और कोई दूसरा व्यक्ति बिना अनुमति के आपके प्राइवेट डेटा को एक्सेस नहीं कर सकता है. हम कंप्यूटर में password का इस्तेमाल करके अपने कंप्यूटर को lock कर सकते हैं और कोई दूसरा व्यक्ति बिना पासवर्ड के आपके कंप्यूटर को एक्सेस नहीं कर सकता.

10- No Intelligence (सोचने की शक्ति नहीं)

कंप्यूटर के पास सोचने की शक्ति नहीं होती है जिस प्रकार मनुष्य सोच सकता है वैसे कंप्यूटर नही सोच सकता क्योंकि कंप्यूटर के पास मनुष्य के जैसा दिमाग नहीं होता है।

11- Reduction in Paperwork & Cost (कागज़ और पैसे की बचत)

कंप्यूटर कागजी कार्यो को कम करता है। कंप्यूटर में ज्यादातर कार्य पेपरलेस तरीके से किये जाते है, इसमें कागज का इस्तेमाल बहुत कम मात्रा में किया जाता है इसलिए कागज में होने वाला खर्चा कम होता है और हमारे पैसे की बचत होती है.
